A bank manager was booked after 27 counterfeit notes of ₹50 denomination were found in a chest of a bank in Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh, a police official said.
“An FIR has been registered against the manager of the Punjab National Bank (PNB) New Mandi branch here under IPC sections 489A (counterfeit notes), 489B (use of genuine, forged or forged notes or notes) and 489C (possession of counterfeit notes or counterfeit notes),” Brijendra Rawat, SHO, New Mandi police station, said on Monday.
The case was registered on the complaint of the manager of the Reserve Bank of India's Kanpur regional office, he said.
According to the complaint, the officer said that last month, 27 counterfeit notes of ₹50 denomination were found in the bank chest of the Punjab National Bank.
